Entry Requirements

Candidates interested in enrolling in the qualification should hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification. The entry requirements are useful for completing the course:

  • Not currently in a teaching or training role.
  • Good reading and writing skills in English.
  • Willingness to complete the course and improve your understanding.
  • Knowledge of the subject you wish to teach or deliver.

How you will be assessed:

Assessment: The qualification is assessed through internally set assessments, with external quality assurance. Sample assessment tasks and assignments are available.

Microteaching: Learners must engage in at least one hour of microteaching, including a 15-minute session observed by centre staff. Additional microteaching or observation is allowed.

Observation and Recording: Teaching practice must be observed and can be recorded for self-evaluation. Learners can be assessed at their workplace, and specific units in the Learning and Development qualification have practice requirements.

Mandatory Units:

Students must study the following modules:

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training –  3 Credits
  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training –  6 Credits
  • Understanding assessment in education and training –  3 Credits

Career Progression

  • Trainer or Instructor: After completing the Level 3 Award, you can work as a trainer or instructor in various settings, including corporate training, vocational training, and community education.
  • Teaching Assistant: The Level 3 Award can also prepare you for a role as a teaching assistant in schools and colleges, supporting teachers in delivering lessons and assisting students.
