Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET)

Overview

This TQUK Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training CET qualification is ideal for trainee teachers or individuals who are not currently teaching but can secure a placement in the further education or skills sectors.

While studying this Ofqual regulated qualification, you will expand your knowledge in areas such as how you can plan inclusive teaching and learning sessions, the resources available to help you deliver your inclusive teaching and learning sessions, and the key principles of teaching and learning and key curriculum issues in specialist areas.

You will need to either be currently teaching or in a position to obtain a placement where you teach individuals or groups of learners aged 14 years or older to provide the evidence and observations to complete this course successfully.

Entry Requirements

Candidates interested in enrolling in the qualification should hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification. The entry requirements are essential for both successfully completing the course and pursuing job opportunities:

  • Candidates already in teaching roles with a minimum of 30 hours of teaching practice (employed and actively teaching).
  • Currently teaching or in a position to obtain a placement for teaching individuals or groups aged 14 years or older to gather necessary evidence and observations for the course.
  • Individuals currently engaged in teaching and training, including those recently started teaching and training.

How you will be assessed:

Assessment: Your assessment comprises assignments, portfolios, and observations conducted in appropriate settings without simulation. It’s internally evaluated and externally quality-controlled, with passing contingent on meeting all learning outcomes.

Teaching Practice Requirement: You must complete 30 hours of teaching practice to fulfil this qualification.

Observed and Assessed Practice: Minimum of three observations totalling three hours, no transfer from Level 3, and credit requires evidence of assessed observations.

  • Assessing learners in education and training –  6 Credits
  • Using resources for education and training –  3 Credits
  • Identify individual learning and development needs –  3 Credits
  • Teaching in a specialist area –  15 Credits
