Overview

The ATHE Level 7 Extended Diploma in Accounting and Finance is a postgraduate qualification. The qualification is equivalent to a Master’s level qualification in the UK university system.

This qualification has been designed to enhance the advanced knowledge and skills required by senior finance professionals. Learners completing this qualification will be able to work strategically in finance at a corporate level. Areas of study include financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, management accounting, audit and compliance, preparing learners for senior roles in the accounting and finance sector.

Entry Requirements

For entry onto this qualification, students must have at least one of the following:

HE Level 6 Honours degree in Business (2:1 minimum) or Accountancy or a similar subject
Equivalent Professional Qualifications such as ACCA (please contact us for details)
Other equivalent international qualifications
Relevant work experience (considered via Recognition of Prior Learning)

If English is not your first language, you will need to complete a secure English Language Test at IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with no band less than 6.0.

Qualification Structure

Five Mandatory Units:

Corporate Reporting for Strategic Business - Advanced (20 credits)

Understand advanced corporate reporting principles, prepare and analyse financial statements, apply international financial reporting standards, and communicate financial information to stakeholders.

Core Financial Management - Advanced (20 credits)

Apply advanced financial management techniques, evaluate investment decisions, manage financial risk, and develop strategies for optimising financial performance.

Management for Strategic Performance - Advanced (20 credits)

Understand strategic performance management, apply management accounting techniques, use performance measurement systems, and drive organisational performance.

UK Taxation for Business and Individuals (20 credits)

Understand UK taxation principles, apply tax regulations for businesses and individuals, manage tax compliance, and develop tax planning strategies.

Audit and Compliance Advanced (20 credits)

Understand audit principles and practices, apply auditing standards, manage compliance requirements, and conduct internal and external audits.

What's Next

On successful completion of the qualification, students may progress onto the MSc Accountancy and Financial Management (Top-Up), transfer to a university or pursue a career in senior roles in accounting and finance.
