Overview

The ATHE Level 4 Extended Diploma in Business and Management is the first year of the degree programme. The qualification is equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree qualification in the UK university system.

This qualification offers learners a comprehensive understanding of business principles and management practices at a higher level. Entry Requirements

For entry onto this qualification, students must have at least one of the following:

ATHE Level 3 Diploma in Business or equivalent qualification
GCE Advanced level profile with achievement in 2 or more subjects
Access to Higher Education Certificate
Other equivalent international qualifications

Qualification Structure

Students must study the following mandatory units:

Business Environment (15 credits)

Analyse complex business environments and market conditions, understand external factors affecting organisations, and evaluate their impact on business operations and strategy.

People Management (15 credits)

Develop and implement effective people management strategies, understand human resource functions, and apply leadership principles to manage teams and individuals in a business context.

Financial Management (15 credits)

Create comprehensive business plans and financial forecasts, interpret financial information, and apply management accounting techniques to support business decision-making.

Marketing Principles (15 credits)

Understand marketing principles and their application in various business contexts, develop marketing strategies, and evaluate market conditions to achieve business objectives.

Business Communication (15 credits)

Develop effective business communication skills, produce professional documents and presentations, and communicate information clearly in written and oral formats.

Strategic Planning (15 credits)

Apply strategic management principles to business operations, develop strategic plans to improve organisational performance, and understand the process of strategy formulation and implementation.

Leadership Skills (15 credits)

Lead teams and manage organizational change effectively, understand leadership theories and styles, and develop personal leadership capabilities.

Operational Management (15 credits)

Apply operational management principles to improve business efficiency, understand quality management systems, and manage resources effectively in an operational context.

What's Next

On successful completion of the qualification, students may progress onto the ATHE Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business and Management, which is equivalent to the second year of a UK Bachelor’s degree, transfer to a university or pursue a career in business.
